Fretless Guitar Conversion

A Fretless guitar allows the player to achieve an amazing sound not possible with a fretted instrument. A fretless conversion can be done on Classical, Steel string, Electric and Bass guitars. If you have never played a fretless guitar, I recommend you start with a conversion on a cheaper instrument as the learning curve of playing a fretless guitar can be long and frustrating, like all good things.

A guitar can be converted to a fretless instrument in two ways.

  1. Fill fret slots with veneer (Veneer can either match fingerboard for invisible look or the opposite).

  2. New fingerboard (Requires finish touchup on neck).
